#The100dayproject
I spent last week searching the web for creative challenges I could participate in. Believe me, there are quite a lot of them out there. There is basically a challenge for EVERYTHING! Whether you want to practice your photography skills or just get a head start on how to knit. Really everything you can think of exists. So I became kind of overwhelmed by all the options presented to me. Because I also know I can’t participate in all of them. I got kind of scared that I might pick the “wrong” one. But then I actually just thought to myself, what’s the point, if I don’t like what I chose anymore I can also just start over. And then I would probably have some bullet points on what I actually have to think about when picking a challenge. So I just took my pick.
The challenge I would like to present to you at this point is the
“100-day project”
The principle is really simple. You create something of your choice for 100 days as continuously as you can. You choose a project, do it for this amount of time and post your results online on Instagram with the hashtag “the100dayproject”.
So here is why I particularly chose this project. As I just told you I was kind of scared of what to choose and what I found to be reassuring was that the 100-day project explains very simple yet detailed what the steps are to participate. They even give you helpful tips on how to find your topic.
Step 1: Sign up for the newsletter
Oh no! I thought at first, commercial stuff again. But it actually links you to really helpful interesting articles, podcasts, etc. for example this article: https://www.npr.org/2019/05/03/720032740/instagram-is-reshaping-how-we-interact-with-art-and-how-artists-create-it?, that really helped me with furthering the research for my master thesis.
Step 2: Find the community online
Just go and have a look at all the great projects, which are already a part of the challenge. Get inspired!
Step 3: Choose your Project
Find something that you feel capable of doing for the next 100 days even when you have a lot of other things going on. An idea you can find new perspectives on and that you feel can further your imagination and creativity.
Step 4: Sign up and announce your project on Instagram
Step 5: Get ready and start
(In my case 1,5 months too late but they really encourage you to get started anyway.)
I am a person that needs some kind of structure to get my work done. So I found it to be very soothing to be presented with this kind of support. So there you have it. This is basically why I chose this challenge. I am thinking about finding some other ones as well that are not on a regular daily basis an see what they can do for my creativity. But for now, that is it. So follow me @daytodaycreativity on Instagram and I hope you like my stuff.
